Steve is a CEO with experience in start-up, middle market and multinational companies across a range of industries including food, ag, personalized nutrition and biotechnology. He is current CEO of Schuman Cheese, a Fairfield, NJ based, privately owned specialty cheese company with several plants in the U.S. serving retail, food service and industrial markets.
Previously he was CEO of Mason Wells portfolio company, Whitehall Specialties, Inc. (WSI), which was sold in 2021. He launched the NewFields™ plant-based cheese division of WSI. Prior to this role, he held several COO, president and other leadership roles at publicly traded Neogen Corporation; Cargill where he launched the Truvia™ brand natural sweetener; Senomyx where he was a founding member of the management team; and Monsanto Company where he held various commercial and strategic planning.
As CEO and Founder of Third Meadow Consulting, he has helped numerous companies develop robust growth strategies in food, food ingredients, ag-biotechnology, e-commerce, pharma and software implementation. He currently serves on the boards of IngredientWerks (ag-biotech) and Demand Chain (SalesForce implementation); and served as Chairman of Board for non-profit Medical Alley Association in Minneapolis. Steve holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Chemistry from Phillips University.
